Melancholy

My son died.

It is a simple statement: My son died.

But the gut-wrenching heart-torn-out-of-my-chest- constant throbbing pain is not evident in that simple statement.

Today I saw an image of a sculpture by Albert Gyorgy, a Romanian artist.

His piece, “Melancholy” comes close to depicting the pain of the loss of one’s child.
Close.
