Drunken Sailor

What’ll we do with a drunken sailor,

What’ll we do with a drunken sailor,

What’ll we do with a drunken sailor,

Earl-aye in the morning?

I thought of that old sea chanty last night. DS and DDIL visited this week, and we spoiled ourselves by playing tourist. We went to Captain Cook on Kealakekua Bay on Captain zodiac’s raft boat. The snorkeling was amazing.

Two days later, we screwed up our courage and did the night-time manta ray dive. My camera couldn’t really catch the magic, but magic it was…….Manta rays with 10foot wingspans cruised below us (and above the scuba divers positioned below us) while they gulped the plankton attracted by the lights each of us held.

Then, yesterday, DH and I spent the day at 69 Beach on the Kohala coast, catching up with one of my residency buddies. She had found this website, emailed to say Hi! and just happened to be spending this week at her Kohala Coast condo. (Thanks for lunch, Lise!)

While at 69 Beach, I found this:

(a small squid)

What does all this have to do with drunken sailors? We’ve spent so much time in or on the water this week, that I found myself bobbing in my chair last night, as if rocking on a boat, or bobbing in the waves, weaving back and forth as if I were drunk.

Trust me….I’m not complaining!
