We’re in good hands. Er….paws

I know he’s a smart boy. Even his name, Akamai, testifies to his wisdom. But I was still confused when, at 3am this morning he started nudging and pulling on my hand.  He usually sleeps through the night, only waking when I do at 5:30 am.

Clearly, he felt the situation was urgent and that I needed to be apprised of it.

We live about 3/4 of a mile uphill and inland from the coast. At night, when all is still, a passing tugboat’s motor can be easily heard…and felt… at our house.

The puppy (who turned 1 year old yesterday!) apparently heard the low thrumming of the motor of a passing tug, and interpreted it as a threat.

He went outside, explored the area and found nothing of immediate concern.

We all slept better for the rest of the night.
